Official charitable purpose
To provide and operate an affordable and sustainable transport service for the community of Twizel and the Mackenzie area. This enables the disadvantaged and vulnerable, such as the elderly and and those in need of specialist medical treatment to access services in larger centers. Connectivity with education and recreation organisations in larger centers reduces isolation. Students are able to extend their tertiary education by attending polytechnic.
Organisation structure
The Twizel Tekapo Community Vehicle Trust is managed by a board who meet bi-monthly. This consists of a chairperson, secretary, treasurer, vehicle coordinator and board members who are elected at a yearly AGM. They consist of a representative from a medical practitioner, Environment Canterbury and elderly community member.. A vehicle coordinator liaises with the volunteer drivers. Bookings and record keeping are maintained through the Twizel Community Centre.
